ACCESS FOR ALL (AFA) ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Elaine J. Lancaster, CCTM, TCC Regional Transit Coordinator, is an active participant in the Transportation Planning Board's (TPB) Access For All (AFA) Advisory Committee. The Committee has submitted a study, "Improving Demand Responsive Services for People with Disabilities", which stresses the importance of involving all stakeholders in developing recommendations that address transportation issues for persons with disabilities. This report has received considerable attention from the media and policy makers. WMATA has formed an Ad-Hoc MetroAccess Advisory Committee that is tasked with looking at how the five AFA priority recommendations could be implemented.
The final study report can be viewed at the TPB website at www.mwcog.org/transportation. All persons concerned with the issues of transportation, especially accessible transportation for all, are encouraged to review this important report.
